VAGINAL REJUVENATION WITH THERMIVA
With childbirth and age, many women experience vaginal changes and pelvic health problems that may keep them from enjoying life to the fullest.
We offer a minimally invasive vaginal therapy using the ThermiVa procedure. The ThermiVA treatment uses gentle temperature controlled radio frequency energy to stimulate collagen, diminish skin laxity and tighten tissue. The treatment does not involve lasers or injections. ThermiVa is a minimally invasive procedure performed in our office, and does not require anesthesia.
The ThermiVa procedure has been shown to be effective in improving vaginal tissue, reducing vaginal dryness and atrophy, reducing urinary leakage, and improving sexual function. It may also help reduce mild to moderate pelvic prolapse symptoms by shrinkage of vaginal tissues.

Do I need vaginal rejuvenation?
Women consider vaginal rejuvenation to address common health concerns, such as:
- Bladder “leaking” (SUI or stress urinary incontinence)
- Changed appearance of vaginal anatomy due to childbirth or aging
- Mild to moderate pelvic prolapse
- Painful sex
- Vaginal dryness and/or thinning vaginal tissue
- Vaginal laxity and/or lessened sensitivity during sex
Vaginal rejuvenation with ThermiVa is a nonsurgical solution for improving pelvic health and sexual function. To discuss your individual health concerns, and determine if ThermiVa is right for you, schedule a consultation.
Who can’t have vaginal rejuvenation?
It’s not the right time for vaginal rejuvenation with ThermiVa if you
- Are pregnant or lactating
- Have an active yeast infection, urinary tract infection (UTI), or active sexually transmitted infection (STI)
- Have had recent vaginal surgery
Talk with the doctor about when to schedule the procedure after your health issue resolves.
You are not a candidate for ThermiVa if you have
- Nerve insensitivity to heat anywhere in the treatment area
- An auxiliary internal cardiac device (AICD) such as a defibrillator, mechanical valve or pacemaker
- Greater than stage 2 pelvic organ prolapse.
Talk with the doctor about any concerns or health issues you have to be sure ThermiVa is right for you.
What happens during the procedure?
During vaginal rejuvenation with ThermiVa, you recline on your back and are positioned as you would be if you were having a regular Pap test. The doctor uses a small handheld wand on the outside and inside of the vagina to gently warm tissue. It is a temperature controlled radio frequency energy emission device. The wand is thinner than and about twice as long as the average tampon applicator, with a slight “S” curve at its center.
How does the procedure feel?
During vaginal rejuvenation with ThermiVa, you’ll feel the application of a water-based gel/lubricant. You’ll feel the movement of, and warmth and gentle pressure from, the small handheld device which applies temperature controlled radiofrequency energy to tissue. The device becomes warmer as the procedure progresses, with the doctor regularly checking your comfort level. Therapeutic benefits result when the device reaches a temperature above our normal body temperature.
How long is the procedure?
Treatment time for the ThermiVa procedure is about 30-45 minutes per session. A complete course of therapy consists of 3 treatments, approximately 1 month (4 to 6 weeks) apart. Tightening is visible immediately after the 1st treatment, but the full outcome takes a few months to fully manifest.
Does the procedure have side effects?
While vaginal rejuvenation with ThermiVa is non-surgical, all procedures involve some risk. For approximately an hour after treatment, skin may be slightly pink to red, swollen and warm to the touch. Light spotting may occur immediately after the procedure. Any mild cramping should resolve within 24 hours. You can resume your normal physical activities after treatment unless directed otherwise by the physician.
How long do benefits last?
After a complete course of vaginal rejuvenation with ThermiVa, most women usually enjoy the full benefits for 9 to 12 months. One or more maintenance sessions are recommended about a year later and thereafter to maintain maximum benefit.
Can I still get pregnant after vaginal rejuvenation?
Yes, you can still get pregnant after having the ThermiVa treatment. It is not a birth control procedure, and does not hinder you from conception in the future. If you do not want to become pregnant, you will need to continue with your preferred method of birth control.
How much does it cost?
The fee for your initial ThermiVa consultation is $75. An initial consultation is required to determine if ThermiVa is right for you. Initial consultations are not conducted over the phone.
The cost for 1 ThermiVa treatment is $1500. The consultation fee will be credited toward your procedure.
We recommend a complete course of 3 ThermiVa treatments for maximum benefit and longevity of results. Each treatment is scheduled approximately 1 month (4 to 6 weeks) apart. Because we want you to have the best results possible, we offer the 3 treatment course of therapy for $3,000 (you save $1,500).
How do I prepare for my procedure?
To prepare for your vaginal rejuvenation with ThermiVa procedure,
- shave or wax the treatment area 5 to 6 days before
- drink an additional 3 to 4 glasses of water the day before and the day of your appointment
Well hydrated tissue responds most favorably to the ThermiVa treatment. Removing hair allows the hand piece of the ThermiVa device to make best contact with your skin. Observing the required time between hair removal and treatment allows you to feel most comfortable during the procedure.
We recommend you set a reminder on your calendar, letting you know when it’s time to shave or wax as needed prior to treatment, and time to start drinking more water.
What do I do after my procedure?
The day after your vaginal rejuvenation with ThermiVa procedure
- Drink an additional 3 to 4 glasses of water
- Resume your normal physical activities unless directed otherwise by the physician
Drinking additional water is recommended because well hydrated tissue responds most favorably to the ThermiVa treatment.
What if I have more questions?
